    • Herdy La. Yumul

ian, thank you for dropping by.

I have my own share of failures and frustrations, too, which I constantly strive to accept and overcome.

      Good luck in your journey.

  10. lolita

i usually bring back soft biscochos from pasuquin but this time i did not have time to be thinking about food.so much to do after laying my mom to rest in november. i had to spend quality time with my 95 year old dad which i have my share of frustrations too and at the same time was able to point out these things with him.

    • Herdy La. Yumul

That opportunity was golden, and it is what the most precious of memories are made of. There is really something about closures that people are drawn to. I am publishing here a poem about it.

  11. lolita

thank you for the poem herdy.i was able to talk to my dad when i was there in january that ever since we were young what he says goes and now ” what i say goes “ie he saw someone smoking and he wanted to go back to smoking .we had a long talk and he never mentioned anything about it again.my sisters are saying i am scolding him but they do not know that i care about him and love him and this memories will linger and i had closures also.

    • Herdy La. Yumul

Ikaw naman, tita… Of course, they know that you love him and care for him. Most oldies like my dad, 72, appreciate the reversal of roles, i.e. the child now does the preaching.

  14. Don

    Herdy,

Nasayaat man ta naammuak daytoy website mo,, kasla immasideg ti Laoag. I am working here in the Banned Country Of Iraq, LOL!!

A lot of people doesn’t have any idea what life is here in the warzone, but i would say… it can also be called a Land Flowing with Milk and Honey.

Adda pay ket inaramid ko nga pinangipeksak kaririknak iti gobyerno(after the chopper crash in Afghan) about banning Filipinos to work in Iraq, but i dont have any idea to where will i send it.

For sure, ill make it a hobby to visit ur site whenever i have time.

  15. jiru

sir, just want to get your opinion on:
    1. why print media didn’t prosper here in ilocos?
    2. are students aware of ilocos times?
    3. why ilocos times is only circulating in ilocos norte?
please answer, sir. i need your answers badly for my research because i’m thinking of revising my title. instead of “students awareness on locally produced newspapers” it will be, “profiles and perception of ilocos times readers”.
    ty

    • Herdy La. Yumul

I can answer these questions, but am too lazy to type my responses.

As a researcher, it will do you well to go through the process, and avoid shortcuts.

  24. I, together with my colleagues in our school paper, were supposed to go to that Division Seminar last December 3-4. However, we were waiting for the decision of the University Administration if they would allow us to go to the Regional Schools Press Conference on December 7-10, but there was no decision until 4 PM, so we decided not to go to the seminar. In the afternoon, we were informed that there was no approval. It simply meant we were not permitted to go. Everyone was so emotional about that. Then at 5:15 PM, [I was at home that time], the University administration said that we are now allowed to go, but on official time. They gave the delegates P10,000 for transportation, but the delegates shall pay for their registration fees. I was informed about this just yesterday. Because of that, I decided not to go to RSPC.

    • Herdy La. Yumul

Ahh, I lectured at the Division of Ilocos Norte SPC in Solsona, Nov. 25-26, then trained at the Division pre-RSPC workshop in San Nicolas, Dec. 3-4.

Bad that you’re missing RSPC but remember that there is much more to student journalism than joining and winning in presscons.

  25. tita lita

i heard this twice in my lifetime'”thank you for accepting my son the way he is”my mother in law[ may she rest in peace] said to me when i married their son 38 years ago and the second time just recently. and i did not seem to grasp it then.only recently i was thinking as it echoes to my mind and see in these mother’s faces the sincerity and joy in there voice that there is someone that really love their sons and accept them even the way they are with their flaws..[nobody is perfect] and it is only now that i can say to them”the pleasure is also mine and also mean it sincerely .although at times i am unbearable and they are too i am here for them and willing to sacrifice for whatever it takes like how they sacrificed their life for them.

  26. William S.

    Herdy-
How about Ms Batacan in Pasuquin? Do you know her by any chance? She is my lola on father side. I think she was a retired principal in the town. Regards.

  27. guiengarma

Sir, is the University having budget cuts? It seems that they are not supporting the students that much during contests [unlike before] since SY 2007-2008, and especially now that the high schools and elementary school of MMSU are integrated. [You may see a post in my blog re: Integration of MMSU Laboratory Schools.] Because we would be on official time, I was not allowed my parents to go to RSPC.

  28. raya medina

    You’re truly blessed, sir.
For sure, your book is another great work.

I’d like to have some feedback from you sir regarding my, well, amateur site as I suppose.
hehe. Although, you just told us that you’re not into ‘cheezzy’ things.
I know sir that you have something to say about anything.

    Hoping for a response. 🙂

This is the correct blog for anybody who wants to seek out out about this topic. You notice a lot its virtually onerous to argue with you (not that I truly would want…HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on a topic thats been written about for years. Great stuff, just nice!

  34. I am Naomi from Ilocos Norte, though I stay in QC. I have come across your blog before, and I took this time to check it again, and take this opportunity if you could help us out. I am asking for financial assistance to a poor public school teacher (Dingras Central Elem. School), Alma, who is fighting Breast Cancer stage 2.

Please take time to read my blog about her (link:http://www.facebook.com/note.php?saved&&note_id=10150410756300501#!/note.php?note_id=10150410756300501)

And pls share if you can. Thanks!
